Farmersville IOOF Cemetery

Farmersville cemetery is like  any other cemetery, but what it does does boast that is different from other area surrounding cemeteries is statues. It has the typical statues of angels atop  the tomb of J. E Jones and even some smaller angels on various other graves around the cemetery. But the two most unusual stones are those of a sailor and of a football player who had died in the late 1970s. Given you do see statues of men in cemeteries but they are usually allegorical such as angels or heroes. The statue of the sailor is for a one Norman Ballew ( find a grave link below if you would like to leave virtual flowers)

I consider this to be of the older style of monuments as it is white granite. Non the less it is very striking monument to someone who served his country and we thank him for that.
The second is for a football player also in the same age range as Mr. Ballew at the time of death . The football statue looks like it has suffered some damage due to time or weathering or maybe vandalism but who knows.
