Pastel Hues. You did not fade my love from our view.

I hardly ever stumble upon porcelain portraits upon graves. This one really intrigued me being in such a good condition for its age. I found it while out wandering in Van Alstyne cemetery looking for a relative on a last minute trip . I found it in the fading light of day. The color.s struck me as soft and muted. There was a beautiful sadness about the child's earnest gaze looking out from the small oval portrait l on the stone leaning to one side. In our own strange way time reached out and two souls stray crossed paths. I took his picture and his eyes and face stayed with me for days afterward. I have to say its one of my favorite I have taken. Usually I do not encounter the faces of the dead. They are only a name to me, never a face. They are human granted, but I don't have any other connection other than I stopped at their grave because it caught my eye and they once were human. We shared the connection of humanity , but theirs is now gone.  His name was Leland Stanford Henderson.
